About Us

All five creators are master’s students at the University of Michigan, pursuing paths in social justice and social work, management and leadership, law, and global social work.

Sofie Aaron

Sofie is from Cleveland and grew up in Ann Arbor, MI. She is currently pursuing her masters at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, specializing in community change and with interests in child welfare and criminal justice.

Before pursuing her masters, Sofie attended the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan majoring in Vocal Performance. After graduating, Sofie hopes to work intersecting social justice practices with the arts, and looking to provide more equitable and inclusive spaces to foster youth expression.

Amy Belfer

Amy Belfer is currently studying for her Master’s of Social Work at the University of Michigan. Her pathway is Community Change and she ideally plans to work with LGBTQIA+ immigrants or youth after graduation. Amy received her BA from Elon University in Human Service Studies. She believes in using an asset-based lens when working with communities and is passionate about advocating for social justice.

Hannah Lefton

Hannah is from Atlanta, GA, and is currently studying law and social work at the University of Michigan and specializing in community change and public interest law. Before starting her programs at UofM, she attended the University of Georgia, where she double majored in International Affairs and Political Science. Hannah is particularly passionate about criminal justice reform and restorative justice practices, especially those that improve the lives of youth and individuals with disabilities who have had contact with the legal system. After graduation, Hannah hopes to work as a criminal defense attorney with a social work lens, providing holistic services to her clients and dismantling systems of oppression on a case-by-case basis.

Flavio Di Stefano

Flavio Di Stefano is originally from Milan, Italy, he moved to the mitten in 2013. He is a graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work pursuing his MSW with a focus on Global Social Work. Passionate about economic equality and mobility, he hopes to connect and build strong and driven relationships with those around him.

Callie Torkelson

Callie is from Southwest, MI, and currently resides in Ann Arbor, MI, while pursuing a Master’s of Social Work degree at the University of Michigan specializing in Management & Leadership. Before coming to Ann Arbor, Callie lived in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while getting a Bachelor’s of Social Work. Callie is interested in pursuing a career practicing social work in higher education.
